Frequently asked questions

Practice policies and the answers our reception team is asked most often. If your question is not here, please call us.

Face-to-face and telehealth consultations

Our doctors offer both face-to-face and telehealth consultations. If you have any respiratory infection we ask that you wear a mask, or book a telehealth appointment instead.

A medical centre is a high-risk setting, with immunosuppressed patients, elderly patients and babies attending.

A telehealth Medicare rebate is available if you have had at least one face-to-face consultation in the previous 12 months.

MyMedicare registration

MyMedicare is a voluntary patient registration system where you nominate a preferred general practice for your ongoing care.

Registered patients can access Chronic Disease Management Plans, which include up to five subsidised allied health sessions per calendar year — up to $300 towards allied health consultations. Extended telehealth consultations are also available to registered patients.

To be eligible you need a Medicare or DVA card and at least two face-to-face visits recorded with us in the previous 24 months.

You can register through the Express Plus Medicare app, your Medicare online account, or by completing a digital registration form at our reception desk.

Results policy

A follow-up consultation is required to discuss your results, either face to face (preferred) or by telehealth. You may receive an SMS from your doctor as soon as they action the results.

Most results come back within 3 to 4 days. If you have not heard from us in that time, it may be because one test takes longer to process than another. If you still have symptoms or concerns in the meantime, please contact us or book an appointment.

Some normal result follow-ups are bulk billed if you see the same doctor. At the doctor’s discretion a fee may be payable if your results are abnormal, or if you require a referral or script.

Our administration team cannot discuss results or email a copy without the doctor’s approval. If you need a copy for a specialist appointment, please contact the pathology or radiology provider directly — they can send a copy to any doctor’s office.

Referrals and prescriptions

All referrals and prescriptions, new and repeat, require a consultation with your doctor.

A referral is a legal document. It cannot be backdated or issued without a consultation. Your doctor will determine whether a referral is warranted.

Childhood vaccination

We offer childhood vaccines with a nurse present, so there is a helping hand for measurements, handling babies and administering injections at the same time.

Our nurses are available Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Please contact us for up-to-date information.

Communication policy

Doctors may be contacted during normal surgery hours. If your GP is with a patient, a message will be taken and reception will advise when the doctor is likely to return your call. Your call will always be put through to the GP in an emergency.

For all other matters, our doctors have asked us to offer an appointment to discuss the issue either face to face or by telehealth. Doctors do not accept requests for clinical information by email, as we are unable to properly assess and examine your condition that way.

Recall and reminder system

Your practitioner is committed to preventative care. You may receive a reminder notice from time to time offering preventative health services appropriate to your care.

If you would prefer not to be part of this system, please let us know at reception or tell your doctor. You can also reply STOP to any SMS you receive.

Management of your health information

This practice abides by the ten Australian Privacy Principles and ensures personal health information is held in strict confidence, available only to staff and authorised individuals.

We will not give out patient details or medical information over the phone or by email.

We will not disclose medical information to your partner or another family member unless specifically agreed.

We will not disclose the medical information of a child aged 14 or over to a parent unless specifically agreed. Under legislation and Medicare rules, a child aged 14 or over may attend a GP alone and consent to normal medical treatment.

Our practitioners use voice-to-text conversion tools to assist with medical record keeping.

Zero tolerance policy

This practice has a zero tolerance policy for any form of aggressive or intimidating behaviour, whether verbal or physical.

Any person acting in an aggressive or intimidating manner will be asked to leave the premises immediately. If this occurs over the phone, the call will be ended immediately.
